The cholesterol is a lipid component which is present in fat and in animal fatty tissues.
It is brought by food and is synthetised by organism. It participates to the constitution of cell membranes. It is a precursor of bil acids, steroid hormones and the vitamin D synthesis. They are 2 kinds of cholesterol: the "good" cholesterol (HDL) and the "bad" cholesterol (LDL).
